Charles Jeffery ''Jeff'' Kearney, 54, formerly of Littleton, peacefully departed this earthly life on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his home in Seaboard, NC.

Jeff was born on July 21, 1957 in Roanoke Rapids to Doris Capps Chambliss and Charles Jordan Kearney. He served in the U. S. Army in Fort Carson, CO as a heavy equipment operator from March 1976 until March 1979 when he received his honorable discharge. Afterwards, he worked as a crane operator all over the state of Florida and North Carolina. Jeff’s favorite pastime was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his loving wife, Kathy, and his dogs, including his 5 pomeranians.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Neal Kearney, mother, Doris Capps Chambliss and her husband, Gordon, of Roanoke Rapids; his father, Charles Jordan Kearney and his wife, Caroline, of Wilmington, NC; three daughters, Kristin D. Ramos of Rocky Mount, Jennifer Davis of Greenville, NC and Shanta Lassiter of Pinetops; thirteen grandchildren; his brother, Gregory D. Kearney and his wife, Michelle, and their sons Patrick and Tanner Jenkins Kearney; and his stepchildren, Jason Patrick of Roanoke Rapids and Kristyn Kidd of South Hill, VA.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm Friday, August 26, and other times at the home of his mother, 807 Stoney Brook Dr., Roanoke Rapids, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 27, in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Littleton, NC with military honors.
